The Ten Principles of Productive Study
- Learning occurs
in small steps. Begin here and nownot tomorrowto study and
to solve problems.
- Study daily. Don't
expect to learn a lot right before a lesson quiz or the final test.
- Scan the performance
objectives, then carefully read the material and ask yourself relevant
questions. Write down questions you cannot answer.
- Read the material
again, take notes, and list key points. Learning is aided by repetition.
- Think about interconnections
with what you know, including on-the-job applications.
- Visualize GD&T
applications, formulas, and key points until you can "see"
them with your eyes shut.
- Write down key
points. You really don't know it if you can't write it.
- Think about each
key point. Say it! Write it! Review it! Relate key points to each other
and compare their similarities and differences.
- Consider the strategies
used to solve GD&T questions and how you would recognize and approach
similar problems presented on a test or on a job.
- Carefully consider
all the practice problems included in your course. Work problems daily.
Become familiar with different types of problems.
