E-Learning Tips

Before the course begins:

Verify that you have the correct hardware and software to enter the course and report any problems.
Be sure to complete course prerequisites.
Review any suggested learning materials for your course before the course begins.
Create a quiet, distraction-free online learning environment. Turn telephone ringers and pagers off.

During the course:

Take a 5-10 minute break for every hour you spend at the computer.
Follow recognized ergonomic guidelines for posture, lighting and workspace positioning.
Be self-motivated and self-disciplined. With the freedom and flexibility of the online environment comes responsibility. The online process takes a real commitment and discipline to keep up with the flow of the process.

Participate in the Discussion Board. Communicating with peers helps build long term relationships for future support.

Use what you have learned. Be sure to relate each training skill to a job skill. Studies have shown that retention is aided when new skills are put into practice soon after they are acquired.
Make notes of any questions or problems with the course to report to the ETI Learning Center.
